Cowboys vs. 49ers-The San Francisco 49ers defeated the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday to win the NFL divisional round and progress to the NFC championship game.
Next weekend, the 49ers will compete against the Philadelphia Eagles for a spot in Super Bowl LVII in Arizona.
The third-seeded Cincinnati Bengals defeated the second-seeded Buffalo Bills by a significant margin earlier to advance to the AFC championship game, where they will take on the top-seeded Kansas City Chiefs (Sunday, Jan. 29 at 6:30 p.m. ET).

George Kittle made a 30-yard catch to start the 49ers’ second possession and assist them in entering Cowboys territory.
A little more than halfway through the first quarter, Dak Prescott committed the game’s first significant error. His toss to Deommodore Lenior on third-and-9 appeared to indicate that he and Michael Gallup were not on the same page because the 49ers now had the ball at the Cowboys’ 21-yard line.
On the 49ers’ first play after the interception, Purdy suffered a sack, but he made up for it two plays later.
For the first down on third-and-15, the rookie found Brandon Aiyuk precisely at the sticks. However, San Francisco had to settle for three points after failing to repeat the same magic on the following three plays, which gave the 49ers a 3-0 lead late in the first quarter.

Prescott moved the Cowboys to the 49ers’ 4-yard line with an 11-yard run after CeeDee Lamb gained the first down on a fourth-and-1 rush. He connected with Dalton Schultz on a play-action ball for a touchdown on the following play.
Since the game on Monday, Brett Maher has only been successful with one out of six extra-point tries. Greg Olsen, a colour analyst for FOX Sports, asserts that even though the kick was blocked, it would have missed wide left if it hadn’t been.
Even though they were at the 49ers’ 35-yard line and Maher was having trouble making the extra point, the Cowboys decided to go for it on fourth-and-4.
Mike McCarthy made a wise choice. As the pocket opened up, Prescott scrambled for a nine-yard gain, taking up the first down and continuing the Cowboys’ drive before the break.
After entering the red zone, the Cowboys turned the ball over. Before halftime, Dallas’ momentum was stopped when Prescott’s ball to Lamb was intercepted by linebacker Fred Warner after being deflected by Jimmie Ward.

On the interception, San Francisco was successful in converting. Prior to the half, Purdy assisted the 49ers in gaining 40 yards to put them in field goal range, but not without some difficulty. When he danced about in the pocket on a play with seven seconds remaining and then threw the ball away, he almost made a rookie error.
Fortunately for Purdy, there was still time for the ball to drop unfinished. As a result, Robbie Gould was able to kick his third field goal of the day from 50 yards out, giving the 49ers a 9-6 advantage at halftime.
Late in the first half, on a pass rush, Micah Parsons knocked down 49ers right tackle Mike McGlinchey. Reggie White, a member of the Hall of Fame, was compared to the play.
It appeared as though the 49ers would have an opportunity to increase their advantage when the Cowboys’ first possession of the second half came to a halt near midfield. However, on Ray-Ray McCloud’s return, Kelvin Joseph swatted the ball loose, giving Dallas the ball at the 21-yard line.

Cowboys supporters may finally breathe. Maher nailed the 25-yard field goal one play after Prescott almost threw a pick-six. Avoiding a crisis.
When the Cowboys received the ball back immediately following the news that Lamb’s fingers had been bandaged up, he produced the greatest play of the game up to that moment. While being impeded, Lamb pulled in a 46-yard catch to move Dallas into San Francisco territory.
How did Kittle develop this idea?
Kittle appeared to be unable to catch Purdy’s pass over the middle because it appeared to be too far away. But as he was tumbling down, the star tight end fumbled the ball at least three times to himself, once to his facemask, allowing him to bring in the catch for a 30-yard gain.
The struggling Cowboys kicker began to regain his footing. Maher’s 43-yard field goal sliced the 49ers’ advantage to 16-12 with 11 minutes remaining after he previously tied the game with a chip shot field goal.
San Francisco is limited to a field goal by Dallas.
The Cowboys reduced the 49ers’ lead, but they were able to kill some time. They completed two third-down plays on a 13-play drive that lasted almost precisely eight minutes (7:59), but ultimately had to settle for a 28-yard field goal.
With 3:04 left, the Cowboys were down 19-12 when the drive handed them the ball back.
Dallas tried an unusual formation in a last-second effort to conjure some miracles when it needed one from its own 24-yard line with six seconds left. While the rest of the offensive line moved out to the wide right, Elliott took a position at centre. Turpin caught a fast throw from Prescott across the middle, but the Niners tackled him right after to conclude the game with a score of 19–12.
