On January 23, a national holiday known as Parakram Diwas is observed in India to commemorate the birth of famed Indian liberation warrior Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The nation commemorates Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s 126th birthday this year. On the occasion of Netaji Jayanti, who turned 124 in 2021, Parakram Divas was first observed. It is a recognised holiday in West Bengal, Jharkhand, Tripura, and Assam. The Indian government honours Netaji on this day.

The significance of Parakram Day

The holiday’s aim is to remember and celebrate Netaji’s indomitable spirit and immense devotion to the nation. For the cause of Indian independence, he was essential. A well-known nationalist, politician, and liberation warrior was Netaji. This day has been set aside to inspire Indians, particularly young people, to strive to his fortitude, tenacity, selflessness, and patriotic fervour in the face of adversity. He was in charge of the Indian Army (Azad Hind Fouj). The Azad Hind Government’s founder and first head was him.

Facts about Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose :

On January 23, 1897, in Cuttack, Odisha, Netaji was born. He earned a philosophy degree and was subsequently chosen for the Indian Civil Services. Because he did not want to work for the British Government, he declined to enrol.
He later travelled to England in 1919 to complete the Indian Civil Service (I.C.S. ), coming in fourth place overall with the highest English score. Since he didn’t want to work for the British government, he quit his position in 1921 and returned to India.
When Netaji returned to India, Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das, who would later serve as his political mentor, pushed him to join the Indian National Congress (I.N.C.). In 1921, Netaji enrolled in the Indian National Congress.

He looked forward to Swami Vivekananda as his spiritual leader and was profoundly influenced by his viewpoints. In 1923, Bose won the election to lead the All India Youth Congress, and he later led the Congress in 1938 and 1939.
Bose was an excellent student and an authentic nationalist of India. Netaji Bose obtained a B.A. in philosophy from the Scottish Church College, which is a component of the University of Calcutta.
With the motto “Delhi Chalo,” Netaji organised and oversaw a 5,000-man army known as the Azad Hind Fauj (Indian National Army) during World War II in Southeast Asia. He also started a new political party in order to gain support from the general public in his own state of Bengal.
